The white eggs are laid one-to-two at a time and require approximately 18 days to incubate. The eggs are incubated by both parents and approximately two to five broods are produced per year or up to 10 young per year. The young are born featherless and are totally dependent on the parent birds for the first month for warmth and food. The young leave the nest approximately one month after they hatch. Pigeons live from 4 to 12 years.
